Your Royal Highness
  • Hyejin
  • “Noona, are you sure about this?” Jungkook asked as he looked at me worriedly. He looked unsure, almost as if he was debating whether it was a good idea or not. I chuckled and shook my head teasingly.
  •         “You’re acting as if I don’t ride a horse daily little brother,” I replied, patting my horse while looking at him as he was on his own horse. I saw Jimin smiling and shaking his head as the two of us got into the usual banter.
  •         Both of my brothers, although younger than me, were fiercely protective of me. Jimin was only two years younger than me, marking eighteen years of age while Jungkook was four years younger than me.  They were both protective and Jungkook was even more so.
  •         The three of us always shared an unbreakable bond, even though Jungkook was not biologically related to us. His parents were friends with our own parents but had tragically died in a fire, leaving their newborn son alone. Our father and mother didn’t hesitate before bringing him to the palace and raising him as their own. The three of us grew up together, always playing together or fighting each other, however, always protecting one another. We trained together, laughed together and there were moments where we cried together as well.
  •         “You know noona, Kooks, she’s not like other girls. She’s too wild,” Jimin said, earning a glare from me. Jungkook scoffed as he grabbed the reins of his own horse.
  •         “I know but that doesn’t mean she can’t get hurt,” Jungkook said, “especially when she’s insisting to race.”
  •         “As I said, we’ve done this plenty of times. Now shut it and let’s race,” I said, starting to get irritated with both of them. I saw Jungkook roll his eyes while Jimin chuckled as the three of us got into place. The three of us took off, our horses speeding up as we went through the familiar trail. It was something quite normal for us to train on our horses, our father had insisted that we need to know how to properly ride a horse, among other things which he deemed essential.
  •         I giggled as I felt the wind on my face. It was always a feeling I always enjoyed so much. I let go of the rein momentarily before I turned right, going away from my brothers. I chuckled as I heard them yell while I directed my horse towards the lake. I pulled onto the rein, pulling my horse to a stop. I slid off my horse and patted his head.
  •         “Well done Shadow,” I said rubbing his head and kissing his nose. He moved his head, almost as if he was hugging me. I chuckled as I grabbed his rein and led him to the water to drink just as I heard hurried hooves approaching.
  •         “Yah! You pabo!” Jungkook yelled as both he and Jimin approached with their own horses. They slid off and approached me while their horses went to drink. Jimin took a silent glance at me but nodded to himself, satisfied with knowing I was not hurt. Jungkook was more vocal about his approach. “You can’t take off like that. What if you fell?” he screamed as he grabbed me by the shoulder and took his own glance before frowning loudly and freeing me from his grip.
  •         “I’m fine Kookie,” I said as I lowered down into the water. I looked at Jimin who smirked and nodded. He lowered down as well just as the two of us both splashed Jungkook with water.
  •         “YAH!” Jungkook yelled as he glared at both of us before suddenly splashing me. My eyes widened before I chuckled. The three of us started chasing one another, laughing loudly and splashing each other with water.
  •         The three of us returned to the palace when Jidwi approached. “Welcome back your royal highnesses,” he said, bowing down, yet I couldn't help but notice a sense of urgency in his voice. “Princess, your father wishes to speak to you urgently.”
  •         “What? Is everything all right?” I asked, suddenly worried that something could have happened while we were not in the palace.
  •         “I am not sure your majesty, but the king insisted that you go to speak to him at once,” Jidwi said. I looked at my brothers who also exchanged a concerned look.
  •         “Help Jidwi take the horses to the stables. I will talk to father and come meet you later,” I said. My brothers gave a nod as Jungkook grabbed my horse’s rein. I hurried inside, nodding at the maids and servants as I made my way towards my father’s quarters.
  •         The guards bowed and then opened the large wooden doors that had gold carved in them. I pinched my dress and went inside where father and mother both turned around to see me.
  •         “Hyejin you’re finally here,” mother said. I could hear that cloak of worry in her voice as I hurried next to her.
  •         “I’m sorry to keep you waiting. My brothers and I went for a ride on the horses,” I explained as mother took my hands in hers and led me to the large table.
  •         “My sweet daughter,” father began as we all sat down. Father seemed like had grown significantly older in the past few hours.
  •         “What’s wrong?” I asked.
  •         “Our spies have informed us that the kingdom of Seoul might be posing a threat of war for our kingdom,” father explained, “not just our kingdom but the little kingdoms as well.”
  •         “Oh my,” I said as I took a moment to digest the news. Seoul was known for its ruthless king who had taken his father’s throne after he passed. King Sehun was known to be merciless, and he was also known for his greed. He always wanted more and more than he already had.
  •         “Is there anything we can do?” I asked, looking at both of my parents. My father sighed while my mother seemed to look away, unable to look me in the eyes.
  •         “I have corresponded with the kingdom of Daegu. We think that a possible alliance between the two kingdoms can help both kingdoms benefit and grow stronger,” father said as he looked at me. Yet, I could tell there was something he was not saying.
  •         “And how is the agreement going to happen? The stakes are too high just for a written agreement,” I said, tilting my head to one side. I knew that politics and alliances were always more complicated than they seemed.
  •         “Sometimes you’re too smart for your own good,” mother said, shaking her head but showing a small, proud smile.
  •         “It is possible with an arranged marriage with the eldest prince – Prince Yoongi,” father explained. I sighed as I leaned back against the chair.
  •         Prince Yoongi – contrary to King Sehun, didn’t have a lucrative reputation. In fact, he barely had one. He was mysterious and there wasn’t much known about him except that he was obedient to his parents and loved his brother. She had some memories of him from their childhood summers that sometimes they spent together, but she didn’t remember much.
  •         “Darling, if you think you cannot handle this marriage,” mother began but I quickly shook my head.
  •         “No, mother, it is fine. If this marriage can save both the people of Busan and Daegu from the monstrous grip of Seoul and King Sehun, then so be it. I will gladly marry Prince Yoongi,” I said.
  •         “When did my little princess grow up so fast?” father asked while I just smiled.
  •         “I had the parents raising me and even if they are a pain, the best set of brothers looking out for me,” I replied. “Father, mother, let’s do this marriage and focus on saving our people and the people of Daegu,” she said.
  •         “We will start the trip in two day’s time,” father said while I simply nodded. I smiled, even though my heart felt like it was going to explode. I always knew an arranged marriage was in store for me, but it never lessened the anxiety that brought with it. What if he hates me?
  • We see another family dynamic, this time in the kingdom of Busan. Seoul is one of the largest kingdom with a cruel king. Daegu and Busan are both in sights of this king so they must unite to try and overcome this hurdle. I look forward to your thoughts as always. Also I've done some other videos. Please check them out and leave a comment and like if you can. Tae's Misfit
