Three Hearts / Chapter Fifteen: Second Nemesis
Three Hearts
  • Athena had to find a magic-craft book in order to defeat Sooha. She wandered off into the school's library.
  • There has to be a book about telepathic abilities around here, she thought.
  • She searched through the books in the bottom, and the ones all the way up on top. Nothing.
  • But soon, as she was in the final shelves of the library, a book tumbled out.
  • Athena flinched. At first, she didn't know what kind of book it was. She scooped it up with her bare hands. She then wiped all of the dust off completely.
  • When the dust bunnies disappeared, the color on the hardcover was revealed. It was brown with golden borders surrounding it.
  • It looked like it was worn out. But that's for those who are searching for it.
  • "Strange," said Athena, observing the mysterious book, "It doesn't have a library seal. There is no way that a book like this should be at a library."
  • As Athena opened to the first page, she found that all of the pages had been ripped to pieces.
  • It's handwritten, too, thought Athena, flipping the torn pages, But, still...it's barely legible.
  • As Athena turned to a specific page, a piece of jewelry fell out of the book.
  • Closing the book, she knelt down and picked it up with her left hand. Athena couldn't tell what it was in her hand.
  • So, she put the book back on the shelf, and held the piece of jewelry in both hands.
  • She opened the palms of her hands as it revealed a dark red, crimson-colored pendant. Athena was fascinated with its detail.
  • How beautiful, she thought, This is one expensive necklace!
  • She tried it on, but the latch suddenly, automatically made a snap sound. Athena was confused.
  • Did it just…
  • And then it began to glow. The old book flew out of the shelf and then landed in her hands.
  • There was then a voice that said,
  • "Listen well, bearer of the Crimson Heart! You must destroy the enemy of Decelis! And then, using this necklace, you must break the curse of the Blue Firefly Island!"
  • Suddenly, there were footsteps rushing in the library. Athena then flew all the way up to the ceiling, to the top of the bookshelf. It was William with Sooha!
  • "It's gone!" William shouted, putting his hands in his raven black hair.
  • "No," said Sooha, "No, they’re gone! The necklace is missing as well! Come on, we have to alert the headmistress!"
  • And they rushed out of the library.
  • Athena was confused.
  • What is so important about this book and necklace? Why do they desire to have it in their possession? And why must they keep it hidden from anyone else?
  • The girl had millions of questions that were reeling around her mind. As she gracefully floated down to the ground, she attempted to remove the necklace.
  • But the latch refused to open. After many attempts to open the clasp, she tried to break it apart by force. But it was no use! No use at all.
  • This is such a strange, yet beautiful pendant, thought Athena, I think I'll keep it on…you know…just in case something bad happens.
  • Leaving the library, Athena knew she had found something that would change most of her life…something she would possibly have to face on her own…she had found her second nemesis.
