Three Hearts / Chapter Eighteen: Transformation: Reconciliation
Three Hearts
  • Another night fell. Heli and Athena stayed apart that time. But they do miss each other, even if they are staying together at the school.
  • Athena went to have a drink of water when she suddenly heard something following her.
  • She turned around and found Sooha creeping up towards her. Sooha forcefully lifted Athena above the ground.
  • "Did you really think you could get rid of me?" she cackled.
  • Athena fought back and activated the Crimson Heart. The necklace gave off a blinding glow.
  • There was an explosion and Sooha fell to the ground with a thud.
  • "No," said Athena, walking away, "I already knew that it was nearly impossible to defeat you."
  • In the morning, the whole school found the canteen a mess from last night. Odette and Shion were confused.
  • "Who keeps almost destroying the school?" asked Shion.
  • But Odette shrugged.
  • "There has to be a kind of villain threatening Riverfield and taking it out on us. But, who?"
  • The couple then noticed Athena wearing the Crimson Heart around her neck.
  • "It couldn't be Athena," said Shion, "Every student knows she is a good Serpent and not a Vampire."
  • "All Serpents fear Vampires," answered Odette, "And Angels also fear them, too."
  • "Even if it was Athena," said Shion, "Then Athena wouldn't have a problem with them; she is fearless."
  • "But even, sometimes, the fearless can also be frightened."
  • "But in the end, they regain their confidence."
  • The Seven Fates met in the hallway. Vincent was furious. And so was Thomas.
  • "Why did you try to hurt Athena?!" Vincent shouted, "Don't you know you could have killed her?!"
  • Thomas crossed his arms.
  • "Vincent cares for Athena as well as for Heli," he said, "If you keep hurting either one of them, then it could cause a punishment for us."
  • "But I miss Heli," said Zeha, "I want him to be with us, like he used to!"
  • "Zeha kind of has a point there," said Hosu, "He hasn't been around for us ever since Athena returned."
  • "But still," said Oliver, "That doesn't give you the right to attempt murder on the couple."
  • The rest of the Seven Fates gasped.
  • "Why would you think we are trying to murder them?" asked Haru.
  • "Because," said Thomas, "You had Sooha pin the blame on Athena for stealing the book and the necklace! And Zeha, you and Jaan attempted to beat her to her death! How do you think that makes her feel?"
  • "Shame on you!" yelled Oliver. "I'm off to the military next week, and I find my youth scholars harming our good friend!"
  • "What do you have to say for yourselves!" asked Vincent, softly.
  • The rest of the Seven Fates had no choice but to apologize for their actions.
  • They said all together, "I am sorry, dear scholars."
  • It was the same for the Blood Altar as well. Heli was angered by Jaan's hurtful plan.
  • "How could you?!" he asked, angrily, "How could you dare try to hurt my girlfriend?! My own girlfriend?! She has done nothing wrong to you!"
  • "Heli, we miss you, we just want to hang out with you like we used to!" confessed Jaan, "All we wanted was for your attention!"
  • "Oh, you certainly got my attention. But the thing is, you just tried to allegedly murder Athena!"
  • "How could we have murdered her?" Jino asked, "All Zeha and Jaan did was cane her."
  • "Caning someone could actually harm you badly! If you only do it hard enough! I'm glad I wasn't a part of this!" said Jacob.
  • "This is why I trusted Jacob," chided Heli, "He was so good to Athena. He trusted her all the way. And what do the rest of you do? You go, 'Oh, I don't like Athena, I think we should try to kill her!' WELL, LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE?! And to end this conversation, I was looking forward to confessing my love for her and taking a big step forward!"
  • The boys gasped.
  • "So...you are planning to…" stammered Jaan.
  • "Yes," said Heli, "I'm going to marry her!"
  • At night, there was a full moon. It shined brighter than most of the stars in the sky.
  • But that also meant that Sooha's appearance was drawing near, too. Athena knew she had to be ready.
  • What was also strange was the blue fireflies that were always flying all around the school.
  • This was also the reason the students were never allowed to leave the school campus. Because of the fireflies.
  • Sooha's silhouette appeared out of nowhere. Athena activated the Crimson Heart.
  • The crystal began to glow. Her wings grew out from her back. And then, she lifted herself from the ground, spreading her wings all the way out. Sooha cackled and smirked.
  • "I will kill you with the snap of my finger."
  • "I would do the same as well…but it'd be more fun to watch you suffer!"
