Long ago, in a kingdom far, far away, there was once a royal family…but this family had a reputation: they were Serpents (black swans) of the Palace of Lucifer.
King Rothbart and his wife Fionna were in luck! They were having a child! But their first daughter, Odile, who was only ten years old at the time, didn't take the news so well. She sensed a rivalry between her and her unborn sibling.
By the time of the baby's birth, she fumed hysterically.
Odile"I thought I would be the one to be!"
She thought in anger
Odile" Then again, if this baby wasn’t born, then everything would be in its proper place and I would have taken the special gift!"
Obviously Odile did get a gift as every child in the royal family does…but this gift was completely the same as everyone else: the power to have a cold heart, to fly, and to never befriend an angel (white swan).
But for the baby girl…her gift was different from the rest.
It was during the ceremony, when suddenly a creature from the unknown appeared. It was something that all of Underland that even the Serpentine feared: the Krampus!
A creature so terrifying that once, Rothbart, as a young boy, nearly used his special powers to drive the disastrous monster out of the kingdom.
But his plan failed, yet people praised him for his good deed.
Rothbart tried his failed plan again. He rose from the ground…his hands glowed from the palms of his hands.
But then…as the Krampus disappeared, so did Rothbart! Everyone thought the worst. But again, the people praised him for his actions.
In the evening, Odile snuck into the baby girl’s crib, and held her in her arms.
OdileI see you haven’t got a gift yet!
She said.
OdileWhy don’t we begin again…not in humiliation, but in discovery…you will hear the sound of the violin once after your wings have appeared. Look inside. If they stay, they stay for good!
She smirked and put her baby sister back down on the crib. She laid down in her bed, and gave a mildly upset chuckle.
