The Sound of Music
  • Suddenly, Eunice heard the door knocking. She groaned lightly.
  • "I still hope it's room service." she mumbled.
  • Hesitantly, Eunice walked up to the door. She held onto the doorknob. She put her ear on the door. There was only the sound of silence. And then, the door knocked on her ear.
  • "Who is it?"
  • "Sim Jae-yun." said the person on the other side of the door.
  • Knowing that the one she had a pash on was out there, Eunice took out her ponytail, straightened her hair, and opened the door slowly.
  • She was then overcome with Jae-yun's natural features on his face. Jae-yun gave a light smile.
  • "What brings you here to my room?" Eunice asked.
  • "I wanted to make sure you were alright."
  • "What happened?"
  • "We went to go and visit you at the high school. Me and Sung-hoon. But then, Sung-hoon noticed that you were out, and you rode away as fast as you could. And we had some difficulties catching up to you."
  • "What was the reason for you to come and see me at my high school?"
  • Jae-yun was quiet.
  • "I...I really like you." he said softly.
  • Eunice frowned.
  • "Do you really?" she asked.
  • Jae-yun nodded his head.
  • Sung-hoon then walked by. But he didn't notice their conversation. Thinking he did notice, Eunice leaped into Jae-yun's arms. This had surprised him.
  • "Why are you doing this?" Jae-yun asked.
  • "I don't know..." Eunice said softly, "I never had someone this close before. My mum and dad never allowed me to date. They thought that boys were distractions for girls. And there was that incident with my BTS fandom."
  • "What happened?"
  • Eunice was quiet for a moment. And then she said, "I found out about this restaurant that they went to. And we didn't know it at the time. How I noticed it was all of the merchandise and other things. I used to think that it was for sale. But unfortunately, it was for the restaurant."
  • "But what does that have to do with anything?"
  • "...Well...my mum said that BTS was something only six-year-old girls die over. And that they were just a bunch of boys with make-up and had plastic surgery. It wasn't a very nice thing to say from my mother. And the elderly couple that are the owners of that little restaurant were shocked by my mother's words."
  • Jae-yun frowned.
  • "Why would your mom say such a thing about BTS? That's insulting!"
  • "I know. I tried to tell her to read the English translations of their songs. But she refused, saying they only talk about nonsense in songs. What is even more sad is that BTS can't date. If they were my age and still in high school, then I would have totally dated my BTS bias."
  • "Which is..."
  • "None, I'm an OT7."
  • And then, Jae-yun's phone rang unexpectedly.
  • "Ne?" The voice on the other end of the line was distinctly different to Eunice.
  • That has to be his mother, Eunice thought.
  • Jae-yun then hung up the phone.
  • "My mother was calling me."
  • "What happened?"
  • "She was just telling me that my dad had a work trip."
  • "For how long?"
  • "About...two or three months. It shouldn't be too long." For the first time, she seemed to smile lightly.
  • "You might have heard about my mum and dad–"
  • "I have." Jae-yun said immediately.
  • Eunice was confused.
  • "What's the matter?" she asked.
  • "It's nothing." said Jae-yun, "All I know is that your parents can be quite...controlling."
  • "Controlling? I thought that was discipline?"
  • Jae-yun shook his head.
  • "When you are sixteen, you are halfway to becoming an adult."
  • "Aren't you an adult?"
  • "I'm 18, so... come to think of it, that's still considered a teenager."
  • "So you are not an adult?"
  • "You could say that."
