The Sound of Music
  • “Eunice!” said Jay Park.
  • He called her name continuously just to test her patience. And then, he found her and Niki sitting next to each other in Mr. Lee’s classroom.
  • “FOUND Y’ALL!” he shouted.
  • Eunice squealed. “Dude! You nearly gave us a heart attack!”
  • “Both or you?” Jay asked.
  • Eunice stuttered. “Me, I think.”
  • Jay sat down beside Eunice.
  • “Sung-hoon wants to speak with you after school.” he said.
  • “But why?” Eunice asked, “I thought he has college right now?”
  • “I meant after school, he wants to tell you something about going out with Jake.”
  • “WHAT?!” exclaimed Eunice, “He wants to do WHAT?!”
  • Jay laughed nervously, “It’s okay, he only wants to do it tonight and nothing else.”
  • “But why does he want to date me?! I’ve got other things to worry about!”
  • “Eunice,” said Jay, “This is…kind of important. You see, his mom and dad know yours, and they are kind of worried about you. So, they want to marry you off with Jake.”
  • “Did you just say “marry”?! Jay! I’m sixteen! How could I possibly marry someone that is many years older than me?!”
  • “He’s eighteen, you guys are like two years apart!”
  • “But the point is Jay…we are both in school!”
  • “I’m just saying. And for the record, you can get married when you’re sixteen as a girl. And a boy can get married at eighteen.”
  • “But to consent to marriage you have to be twenty!”
  • Jay facepalmed himself.
  • “Why are we arguing?” asked Niki, “I don’t see the problem.”
  • “Jay is telling me information that I am not old enough to learn about! UGH! What to do? What to do?!”
  • “It’s okay,” said Niki, giving her a hug, “I’m sure Jake would understand once you tell him.”
  • After school, Eunice was outside and untying her bike from the bike racks. Once she was ready to cast off, Lee Heeseung decided to tip her over by “accidently” shoving her from the arm.
  • “Oops!” he said sarcastically.
  • But Eunice was already enraged.
  • “Why the hell did you DO THAT?!” she screamed.
  • “I didn’t mean to do it,” Heeseung cackled, “But it was my arm!”
  • Eunice then scoffed, picked up her bike and rode off.
  • I can’t believe that boy, she thought, He always picks on me! When is he going to stop?
  • At home, she rested. And then, a knock was at the door.
  • “If it’s room service, I am seriously going to have a flip-out.” she complained.
  • She opened the door…and Sung-hoon stood in front of her eyes.
  • “Uh…”
  • “I know you don’t want me here, but I really must tell you something.”
  • “What is it?” Eunice asked.
  • Sung- hoon sighed, “Can you date Jake? Please?”
  • Eunice rolled her eyes.
  • “Why is everyone asking me to date Shim Jae-yun?! It’s getting annoying!”
  • “I know it’s annoying, but the truth is, he really seems to like you! And after you date for some time, he wants to marry you.”
  • “And there goes that same phrase I’ve heard from Jay Park!”
  • “W-w-wait! Jay told you this?”
  • “Yeah, who else?”
  • Sung-hoon sighed, “I know you don’t want to do this, but you have to do it…for him at least. You are the daughter of the most evil and successful parents in the world! If your life keeps evolving this way, then…your life would be quite miserable. Please…just do it…and if you don’t like it…then maybe…I’ll date you.”
  • Eunice saw determination in Sung- hoon. And so, she forcefully nodded her head in agreement.
