Side by Side, Eye to Eye
  • Dear Journal,
  • I have a lot to tell you about today! It’s 9:30 pm. So this morning, I woke up, got dressed really quickly, and then I ran downstairs to have breakfast.
  • The date for the time was 11:30 am.
  • While I was waiting for everyone to arrive, I wandered around in my mom’s room, and I found a book underneath the bed. It looked old and dusty.
  • I then ran back to my room and opened the book, which to my surprise was a photo album. I felt so nostalgic when I opened it more.
  • I thought the people looked familiar.
  • And when I turned to the page of my birth, I thought I saw Phoebe with my cousin Periwinkle. I flipped through every picture.
  • I saw my best friend in each and every picture we were in. As we grew older in the pictures, the face of my best friend grew familiar.
  • He really started to look like Ronan. I got really confused. I flipped through more pictures until I saw one picture missing. That was only the beginning!
  • An unexpected memory came into my mind again. I saw myself singing a song. And then I remembered that picture too!
  • You’d know it an inch bit, but then you might’ve forgotten. Just a bit. As soon as I snapped right out of my memory, I heard Ashley come running upstairs.
  • “Come on!” she said, “Ronan is almost here!”
  • “Okay! I’m coming!” I replied.
  • So, I went downstairs. But I realized that I forgot my purse in the car. I asked my mom to hand me the keys.
  • While I did find my purse, it was in a spot that I found a ripped picture of Ronan! I quickly put it in my purse as soon as Cara pulled up.
  • In a rush, I grabbed on my shoes, and I sat down at the table.
  • “You ready?” Ronan asked as he walked in.
  • “Yes, I am!” I replied.
  • During the ride, I felt sort of sad-ish. Ronan and Ashley were talking about me; I dozed off, as a result of having another memory. But the only thing I saw was me hugging my best friend.
  • That was all I saw.
  • I felt Ronan’s hand on my shoulder. It shook me.
  • “Are you okay?” Cara asked in a soft worried voice.
  • “I’m fine. I was just thinking. Are we there yet?"
  • “Yup!” Ashley said as she opened the door of the car.
  • Once we started walking, I felt myself crying in my head. I was at the place I was bouncing off the walls to go! And…I was there! Windsor! My dream place!
  • First, we walked through the castle gardens, the theater where they showed Mean Girls, the ice cream parlor, past Legoland, and we did some walking in Berkshire.
  • For lunch, we had Fish and Chips (one of my personal favorites)! Or, as somebody pointed out on Facebook, “A pot of Gold”.
  • We then accidentally bumped into each other’s heads and died laughing. And we all took a bunch of pictures.
  • Then at 2:15pm, we all headed home (to our condos). At that very moment me and Ashley were dropped off, I felt very depressed.
  • “Are you okay?” Ronan asked.
  • “Yeah, I’m fine.”
  • “I feel like something is wrong. Is there?”
  • “No, there isn’t. Why?”
  • “I’m just making sure you’re alright, that’s all.”
  • As a goodbye, I gave a quick lip-lock on Ronan and went inside with my sister.
  • At dinner, I kept staring at the window; Mom had a notification on her phone.
  • “Your friends are going to stop by tomorrow. Are you okay with that?”
  • “Sure, they’re welcome to come over tomorrow.”
  • After dinner, I was sketching pictures of Artemis Fowl and Marcellus Pépinot. And that ends today's story.
  • I’m still trying to figure out my best friend’s name. The name sounded uncommon. But Somehow, we’ll figure it out. Right?
  • It’s way past my bedtime. Mom should be coming up now. I’ll talk to you in the morning. Goodnight!
  • All the best, Sabrina.
