Revenge / The Plan
Revenge
  • Lilith walked back over to Nyx, admiring the animal as she approached. The rare horse snorted and threw her head back as she saw Lilith, making her hesitate about taking the horse. Of course, she had ridden horses before, but never a giant Qireinae horse with eight legs.
  •         She put a hand on the horse, her black fur, rough, yet soft and silky. Lilith remembered the legends of their fine coat, but never believed it to be true. She ran her hand over the creatures body, taking in this once in a lifetime chance. Nyx had scars dotted all over her hair, probably from the many hard years she had to go through.
  •          She could feel herself tense up as she climbed up and sat down in the saddle, and she could feel Nyx tense up underneath her. Panic slowly started to rise in her mind, but Lilith shoved it down. She looked up into the sky, and looked for the constellation, Carina. Minerva had taught her when she was young; 'Look for Carina, and follow her. She will always guide you back to Timeston.' Lilith found Carina, clicked her tongue and loosened the reins, signifying Nyx to walk.
  •         Lilith gripped the reins with her bandaged hands, and let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding. "Alright, Nyx. How fast can you go?" She leaned down and whispered into Nyx's ear.
  •         Nyx's ear perked up, and as if she understood Lilith's thoughts, she took off into the darkness surrounding them. Not expecting the sudden move, Lilith flung backwards, and was barely on the saddle. "Wait!-" She cried out, struggling to keep hold of the reins, wind whipping around her ears and making her eyes water.
  •         Nyx immediately halted to a stop, throwing her back into the leather saddle. She turned her head and looked back at Lilith with her gold eyes, almost as if expecting an apology of some sorts. Lilith squinted her eyes as she looked around the dark forest, looking for the lights of the cottage, but there wasn't any lights in sight.
  •        It was impossible to go that far within a few seconds- If they keep going that fast, maybe they could get to Timeston faster than she had calculated. "Let's try that again." Lilith sighed, getting a firmer grip on the reins, and clenching her thighs, ensuring that she stays on.
  •         Lilith slightly kicked at Nyx's sides, and loosened the reins a tiny bit. "Slowly, slowly." She said calmly.
  •       Nyx started off in a trot, but it slowly grew to a gallop. A few moments later, a terrifying truth dawned upon her. Lilith would have to take off her mask and change her clothes before she gets Timeston, and somehow hide Nyx- to not draw much attention.
  •        Maybe if she could take off the mask now, and change clothes, somehow and somewhere, in Timeston. It would lower the risk of drawing a lot of attention to her, because a girl with burnt clothing, mask, and daggers would definitely draw attention.
  •         Timeston is the richest city in Astraria, and it doesn't have peasants. It was just filled with spoiled children, gamblers, thieves, and crime. Even though she hated the city, It was good for work. Lilith ripped off her mask, and savored the warm summer's night air on her cheeks. Her long hair fell out of the remaining braids, and she threw the mask onto the ground into the dirt.
  •         She raised her hand to her face, touched the burns and scratches on her face, and hoped they wouldn't scar. They didn't feel too bad, but there was still a chance. She leaned into Nyx's mane and sighed. "Faster, Nyx." Lilith murmured, tightening her grip on the reins.
  •          Lilith could tell Nyx had been waiting to do this for a very long time, because she did not waste a single second taking off into the darkness. She knew that they would be at the city in a few moments, but they would have to stop to find an abandon barn, to hide Nyx.
  •         Lilith tucked her face into Nyx's mane, and savored the rare moment, knowing it won't last long. They went up a hill, into an opening in the forest. She slowly pulled on the reins, making Nyx come to a steady stop. The lights of Timeston flooded the surrounding valley, and Lilith could already hear the merry songs of the drunks on the streets below.
  •         She grinned, knowing that someone had tried to kill her- but failed, and that she's here to repay the price. Lilith got off of Nyx, her legs saddle sore. She planned to work her way to the castle she once called her home, and make Minerva feel the pain that she made her feel.
  •         Lilith walked in front of Nyx, and put her forehead on hers. "Thank you for that quick journey," She said, closing her eyes. "This was an honor." Lilith smiled slightly, pulling away. Nyx bowed, and seemed to retaliate the feelings, making Lilith's breath catch. Nyx turned around, and took off back into the forest.
  •         Lilith sighed, and looked toward Timeston. "Minerva," She said singingly. "I'm coming for you."
