After school, I walk to the library, as usual. I’ve read almost every book in this library. I just have one more section to go through and then I’m done. I grab three books off the shelf and walk to a table. I’m a really fast reader. I can usually read two books in a day because I don’t have any friends here. Well, I have one best friend but she lives in America. I call her as often as I can though. I open my book and begin reading it. I nearly scream when someone startles me by slamming their book on the table. I look up from my book and see Taehyung sitting at the table.
“Hi.” I smile at him.
“Hey.” He replies.
“What are you doing here?” I ask. “You’re not usually here. In fact I’ve never seen you in here before.”
“Well, I noticed that you sometimes come in here. So I thought I’d join you.”
“Noticed? Or stalked me?” I raise an eyebrow.
“Ok both.” He laughs nervously. I smile and he stares at my face. Probably the bruise on my cheek.
“Why are you staring?” I ask. He laughs awkwardly.
“Uhh.. just there’s a-“
“A bruise on my face. Next time ask.“ I inform him.
“Yeah. Sorry.” He looks at the floor.
“I just got punched in the face.” I explain.
“Really?” His eyes widen. “Are you ok?”
“No. I had to go to the hospital and-“ I laugh when I see his face. “I'm just kidding.
“Oh.” He looks embarrassed. I stare at him for a second.
“So why are you following me around?” I ask after a long moment of silence.
“Well, I saw that you always sat alone and thought I’d try to get to know you. You seem friendly.” He shrugs.
“So it wasn’t a dare to befriend me?”
“No. I don’t know why you think that.”
“Because you’re suddenly all buddy-buddy with me.” I snap.
“Well sorry for trying to be nice.” He snaps back. “No wonder you have no friends.” He whispers under his breath, but I still heard it. I clenched my fists, slammed the book shut, and stood up, starting to walk away. “No wait!” He tries to stop me but I ignore him and keep walking to the librarian. I ignore him as I check out my book and I ignore him as I walk out of the library.
“Please stop following me.” I turn around after being fed up with his nagging.
“No.” He replies. “I’m sorry.“
“I get it. You’re sorry.” I smile sarcastically at him and turn and walk to my house. Annoyingly, he still follows me. I roll my eyes and keep walking. I’m nearly home and he’s still following me.
“Why are you still following me?”
“Chill. I live down this street. Stop flattering yourself.” He says and walks past me. I stand there thoroughly annoyed.
“Really?” I ask, catching up to him.
“Yeah. My house is right there.” He pointed to it. His house is three houses down from mine.
“No way.” I mumble. “My house is right there.” I point to mine.
“Wow. Umm ok.” He chuckles. “What a coincidence.”
“Yeah.” We walk in silence for the rest of the walk. “Umm I’ll see you tomorrow.” I reply.
“See you.” He replies. I walk into my house.
