Mellifluous / Chapter Three
Mellifluous
  • The talk at the cafe seemed to not be enough. Seokjin was more than happy to see your mother, so you invited him, along with Namjoon, to visit your home.
  • Since Jin knows how to drive, he obviously offered you a ride. You nodded, and followed behind him.
  • While he entered to his side, to drive. You found yourself reaching out to open the front door, to sit next to him. Only to be reminded that you weren’t going to sit there anymore...
  • Namjoon’s large hand was on top of yours. He too, seemed to have reached for that door out of instinct. Jin is his Soulmate, for god’s sake! You literally forgot Namjoon existed...
  • He quickly moved his hand back, and the eye contact you both had lasted for a few seconds. Part of you, wanted him to sit on the back. Jin was your best friend, you don’t care if he has a Soulmate or not...
  • But then, another part of you, is ashamed. Ashamed that you’re thinking this, and that you’re being so negative right now. You’re trying to be supportive, and happy, remember!?
  • Biting your lower lip, you removed your hand from the handle, and smiled at Namjoon. His eyes were so easy to read. That’s something you noticed about him, while you talked in the cafe.
  • “Are you sure...?” Mixed with an “I’m sorry...” is what his eyes were saying.
  • He can tell you’re not comfortable with him. That you in some way, dislike him.
  • How immature of you.
  • You waved your hands, and forced yourself to beam. Shaking your head as if telling him that it’s alright, and you moved to quickly open the door to the back.
  • Before Namjoon could say anything, Jin rolled down the window.
  • “Come on, Joonie.” Jin said, making Namjoon get all red about the nickname. Even if you couldn’t hear it, he felt like you did.
  • . . . . . . . .
  • As Jin drove, you didn’t seem to be interested in interacting at all. Your mind couldn’t seem to want to move on. Memories of back when it was just you and Jin against the world. Both keeping eachother company, and sticking together like siblings.
  • You tried to think of something else, anything...
  • You glanced up, to see Jin’s bright smile. He seemed to be talking to Namjoon about something, and by the looks of it, it was maybe a pun. Yep, definitely a pun. The way Namjoon stared at him with a blank face, before chuckling. He shook his head, looking down. A smile still on his face, he seems to like them.
  • “It seems like Jin’s puns have been getting worse...” you concluded.
  • The familiar road caught your attention. You’ll be arriving soon with Jin, and his Soulmate...hopefully your mother doesn’t go overboard with her reactions.
  • The reason Jin loves your mother so much, is because like him, she’s dramatic. She’s so expressive that it’s comedic, and Jin lives for that. Your mother is rarely in a sad mood, and so is Jin. You would think they were mother and son, but no.
  • Once parked, Jin turned to look at you. You shot him a smile, before getting out of the car.
  • Namjoon was already outside, and you caught the way he stared at the many plants you had outside. Your mother of course, being a house wife, and having gardening as her hobby, pretty much turned a house like this.
  • A personal greenhouse.
  • Seeing the unfamiliar car, your mother was quick to peak out the door.
  • She let out a gasp, that you bet anyone could hear, and she dashed outside. Jin walking towards her, opening his arms to embrace her. She looked at him, and looked at Namjoon.
  • Feeling a bit bad about the whole car door situation, you patted Namjoon’s back. Gesturing him to walk forward, and introduce himself to your mom.
  • Jin seemed to be the one to do so, though. The way your mother’s eyes grew wide, had you almost laughing. She smiled, bringing Namjoon into a hug. Your mom was smaller compared to him, so he struggled a bit to find a way to properly hug her. How cute.
  • She seemed to have baked something. Your nose catching on to a sweet smell...chocolate...
  • Her hand was suddenly holding yours, and she pinched your cheek affectionately. You smiled, letting her guide you in along with the two very welcomed visitors.
  • . . .
  • “Wanna hang out today?” Taehyung asked. His hand holding Jungkook’s, as the three students walked out of the school building. Students were everywhere. Many talking, and heading home.
  • “Umm...sure? I don’t mind. Do you have anything to do today, Kook?” Jimin looked at Jungkook. The younger of the three shook his head.
  • “Jungkook is free. Where do you wanna to go?” Jimin asked.
  • “We should go to the convenience store, buy more snacks, and go to the park!” Taehyung said.
  • “Aren’t we too old, to go to a park?” Jimin joked.
  • “No one is ever too old, to go anywhere. We can feed the ducks! Your bird family, remember? You’re a duck too!” Taehyung teased.
  • “Yaaa! You’re such a-” Before his mind could register it, Jimin was reaching up to mess Taehyung’s hair.
  • “Ah!” Taehyung gasped, when Jungkook’s brute force, pulled him back. Luckily, it wasn’t hard enough to have him falling back, but still. He was caught of guard.
  • Jimin’s hand touched nothing, but air. And Jungkook suddenly felt a wave of guilt hit him, when he saw the momentary hurt in Jimin’s eyes.
  • “Ah...sorry...” Jimin said. He can’t believe he forgot he can’t touch anyone. His eyes have seen physical touch happen all the time, that he always forgets that he can’t do it.
  • Taehyung didn’t need to see, to understand what had happened. Jimin was going to touch him, and Jungkook was quick to take action. He pulled him back, so Jimin’s hand would miss him.
  • “Don’t apologize. It’s okay-” He said.
  • “No. No, it’s not okay.” Jimin said. His phone suddenly went off, and he looked at the screen.
  • “Jimin-”
  • “I-I think I’ll go home. I’m sorry...” Jimin said. He looked at Jungkook, who had let go of Taehyung’s hand, in order to stop Jimin from leaving.
  • “It’s fine, Kook. I’m not mad at you. I-I just got a text from my mom, saying we’re going out to eat. I’ll...I’ll see you guys later.” He said. And with that, he ran off. Jungkook wanted to run after him, but he knew he somewhat had a responsibility for Taehyung. So he let Jimin run off.
  • “Jimin!” Taehyung shouted. He himself was preparing to run after his friend, when Jungkook grabbed his arm.
  • “He was really upset, wasn’t he?” Taehyung asked. Jungkook bit his lower lip. Unable to answer Taehyung. The only thing he could do, was hold his hand, and guide him to the bus stop.
  • They aren’t going to hang out today, after all...
