Mellifluous / Chapter Six
Mellifluous
  • “Kookie! Kookie!” Jungkook turned red, when he managed to hear Taehyung and Jimin calling out for him. Ever since they heard his mom call him that, they quickly adopted it. Not that Jungkook minds...but them calling him “Kookie” with many students around, was embarrassing.
  • He didn’t realize they were close, until Taehyung reached over, and grabbed his backpack.
  • “Gotcha!” Taehyung laughed.
  • “That...this is Jungkook, right?” He asked. Turning his head to his left, to where Jimin was.
  • “Duh! Do you really think I would lie to you, like that?” Jimin asked, looking offended.
  • Jungkook smiled, and held Taehyung’s hand.
  • “It’s Friday! We should hang out again!” Taehyung said. His hand squeezing Jungkook’s, while he looked at Jimin’s direction.
  • “Again? Tae, I get we're like, the best of friends...but I have plans today.” Jimin said.
  • “.....He isn’t lying... right, Kook?” Taehyung asked. Since he couldn’t see him, he is going to trust Jungkook’s judgement.
  • “....” Jungkook looked at Jimin, and they had some sort of staring contest. Jimin huffing once he lost against Jungkook. The youngest is always so competitive, even in the smallest things.
  • “I’m not lying. I seriously have other plans today.” Jimin said.
  • “Oh? What kind of plans?” Taehyung asked. It was at this moment, that Jimin knew that Taehyung was in detective mode. He was already curious by nature, so when Detective Taehyung took over, Jimin knew he was going to be questioned until he cracked.
  • “....I- th-that’s a surprise.” Jimin stuttered. His eyes avoiding theirs. Hopefully this can get Taehyung to let it go.
  • “A surprise? What kind of surprise?” Taehyung asked.
  • Or not.
  • “It won’t be a surprise, if I tell you.” Jimin said, rolling his eyes once he saw Jungkook staring at him. Clearly he’s also interested. If he could speak, he would absolutely be joining Taehyung on the questioning.
  • “Hmm...true...” Taehyung admitted. He seemed to be deep in thought, when the school bell went off.
  • “Ah- classes are gonna start!” Jimin gasped. The three of them had been so focused on chatting, that they hadn’t even left to get their things from their lockers.
  • “We have like 3 minutes! Go! Go!” Jimin shouted.
  • Jungkook nodded, and held onto Taehyung’s hand tightly. Fortunately, he and Taehyung had nearby classes. While Jimin, had to dash to the second floor. Which wasn’t that concerning, he was a fast runner.
  • “I’ll see you guys at lunch!” Jimin shouted. Already taking off.
  • “Y-Yeah! Let’s go, Kook!” Taehyung said. With his free hand, he held onto the strap of his backpack. As if buckling up for the fast ride. He only felt the light squeeze of Jungkook’s hands on his, and they were off.
  • Feeling the slight wind brush his face, Taehyung suddenly began to laugh.
  • “What a way to start a Friday!” He laughed.
  • . . . . . . .
  • A finger poked your arm, making you look up from your school book. Your mother softly smiled at you, and showed you the bag of chips she bought for you. Thanking her, you go back to reading.
  • Seconds became minutes, and minutes became hours. Around the afternoon, was when you finally placed down your pencil. You had been taking notes after notes, and highlighting vocabulary. Your eyes felt a bit heavy, and a nap sounds quite nice right now.
  • Standing up from you chair, you made your way to your bathroom to wash your face. Some cold water would help you feel a bit refreshed. While you dried your hands, your mind went to wondering how your Soulmate is doing. What could they be doing right now? Would they also be studying? Are they perhaps smarter than you? What if they’re thinking about you too? Right now? At this very moment?
  • You felt your face heating up, god-how embarrassing to be thinking about this. Of course they can’t be thinking about you! No Soul Hit has happened, so both of your are clueless about each others feelings, even if you’re apart. The magic happens when you meet...before that, it’s nothing.
  • Letting out a sigh, you go back to your room. Slowly making your way to the bed, to take that deserved nap, when you see your phone lighting up. A message had arrived.
  • “Seokjin!” You thought. And quickly checked to see if you were right.
  • Your eyes grew wide...
  • Namjoon
    Namjoon
Hello! This is Namjoon! :D I was wondering, if you and I could hang out today. If you’re not busy.
  • .......
  • For a moment you were questioning yourself, on why you had decided to accept his invitation. You’ve just met, and your thoughts about him are slowly arranging themselves. From jealous friend, to slowly accepting what was happening, and becoming friends with your best friend’s...Soulmate.
  • “Ah-thank you for...ah...” Namjoon stuttered. The cool composure he seemed to have, vanishing into thin air once starting a conversation with you.
  • “For accepting to hang out.” He finally said. His cheeks turning a bit red.
  • “Especially cause I-I couldn’t pick you up. Sorry about that!” He said bowing down. His eyes closing shut in embarrassment.
  • You shake your head, and waved your hands. You didn’t mind at all, and you quickly began to type on your phone. Opening Notes, you typed-
  • You
    You
    It’s okay! I didn’t mind!
  • You had both taken the bus, to get to the small cafe he had suggested. It was nice! Not that many people around, calming music on the background. It was aesthetically pleasing to your eyes. Pastel greens, and pinks decorated the inside of the building. It even had some healthy looking plants, that you’ve noticed Namjoon seemed particularly fond of.
  • “Yeah it’s just...I-I don’t know how to drive...” he said. Again, hiding his face due to embarrassment.
  • You will admit that was a bit odd, but didn’t question it too much. You have recently been introduced to driving, and Namjoon seems slightly older than you. Makes you wonder if he’s older, or younger than Jin...
  • “Sorry...I just, sincerely wish for us to get along. Jin is my Soulmate, and...” he looked down at his cup of coffee. You had ordered your drinks a while ago, and were waiting a bit to let them cool off. Namjoon’s finger traced around the handle of the cup, slowly as if thinking what to say next.
  • “He’s made it more than clear, that you’re someone very special to him. ” Namjoon said.
  • “And when we met, you also made it obvious that he is very special to you too.” He smiled. Looking up to see you staring at him.
  • “......OH MY GOD!” He gasped. Completely forgetting that you couldn’t hear him, and you were unable to read his lips properly if he was looking down. He wanted to smack himself, and just have the ground eat him whole.
  • He quickly took out his phone, and immediately began to type a million of apologies.
  • He stopped when he heard the sound of your laughter. Your eyes closed shut, and you even went to the extent of smacking the table with your hand. This happened a lot, with other people. But Namjoon’s reaction was just too comical. From the way his eyes grew wide, to the way he quickly tried to unlock his phone, failing two times, before finally getting to typing his apology.
  • “I...” he watched as you began to type on your phone. Your giggling fit still present, as you finished typing.
  • You
    You
    It’s okay. Really 😂
  • “I- but still! That was...ugh...” Namjoon groaned, looking down.
  • “That was still rude of me...” he said. After that, he started typing on his phone. His cheeks remained red, and with this slight pout on his face he continued to type.
  • ………
  • “But yeah, atleast I didn’t bump my head on the door, like I always do...” Taehyung pouted.
  • It was lunch time. The trio was once again, meeting at the same place like they always do. Though Jimin had ran off somewhere, he was sure to be back in a few minutes.
  • Taehyung was currently resting his head on Jungkook’s lap, while he was telling him about his classes. Jungkook, unable to answer him, was fine by simply listening. Though he was always finding ways to let him know he was listening. Like when he chuckles, his body jumping around when Taehyung told him about this crazy idea to adopt a whale. Or how he squeezes his hand, or pokes him once or twice, to let him know his opinion.
  • “I have such great ideas, I should make a movie.”
  • One tap. That means anything positive. “Yes!” “Of course!” “Sure!” “Okay!”
  • “What about archery? Do you think I would be good at that?”
  • Two taps. That means anything negative. “No.” “Nope.” “Don’t do it” “Stop” “No way”
  • Taehyung giggled, he didn’t take offense to that, because he knows Jungkook so well. The youngest is just teasing him.
  • “You know what I mean! Once I get my sight back! Do you think I would be good at archery?”
  • “...”
  • Two taps again.
  • “You’re so mean, Kook!” Taehyung laughed.
  • That’s how it was with them.
  • “Yo, I brought us some drinks.”
  • Jungkook looked up, to see Jimin taking some sodas out of his backpack. Even if it wasn’t his turn to buy them food, he was always bringing them things. Jungkook will forever be grateful for that.
  • “Awesome! You’re the best, Jimin!” Taehyung said. Sitting up, and stretching his hand out.
  • “How are classes going?” Jimin asked. Handing Taehyung a juice box, and Jungkook a lovely bottle of banana milk.
  • “Pretty good!” Taehyung answered, his hands feeling the juice box, before he found the right place to insert the straw.
  • “Kook?” Jimin asked.
  • The boy nodded. Too busy gulping down one of his favorite drinks, to give a proper answer.
  • “How about you, Jimin?” Taehyung asked.
  • “Um, it’s alright.” Jimin smiled, taking a seat on the green grass.
  • “Can’t complain much...we have a group project so...”
  • Taehyung frowned, and Jungkook stopped focusing on his drink.
  • “Oh...I’m sorry...” Taehyung said.
  • “It’s fine. It’s not that hard to do...” Jimin said, playing with the grass.
  • Due to his situation, group projects are a bit of a risk. He could make contact with another person, and that would cause him to feel uncomfortable. Even the lightest touch could hurt him, and have him deal with it until it goes away. Leading to group projects simply being out of the question for him. School is still school though, so he still has to do the project, just with some changes. He gets more time, and doesn’t have to present it infront of the class. Which Jimin figures is because the teachers think that it would make him feel bad, standing there and present everything on his own. Meanwhile, other groups stand together and all that. They probably want him to avoid being more upset than he probably is now.
  • “It’s always been like this...I’ll just do the drawing project at home, like I always do.”
  • Before his dark thoughts began to wrap around him again, a small pebble hit his shoes. He looked up to see Jungkook looking at him. A small smile on his face, while he typed something on his phone.
  • Jimin heard his phone go off, and he looked at the screen.
  • Kookie
    Kookie
I can help you with the drawing project.
  • “Ah- no... that’s not necessary, Kook.” Jimin said, shaking his head.
  • “What? What’s going on?” Taehyung asked.
  • Another message.
  • Kookie
    Kookie
If you get me another banana milk. ୧(﹒︠ᴗ﹒︡)୨
  • Jimin let out a laugh, looking up to see Jungkook smiling brightly at him.
  • “Of course!” He laughed.
