Mellifluous / Chapter Four
Mellifluous
  • “The food was delicious.” Jin said. A smile on his face while he and your mother walked to the door. It was noon, and Jin was going home now with Namjoon.
  • You learned a bit more about him, while he conversed with your mother. Like how he tends to hide his smile when he laughs, or genuinely listens. There were times you had no idea what your mother was talking about, but Namjoon’s eyes stayed focus on her, and would listen. He seems like a good listener.
  • Of course, a nice partner for Jin, who only talks and talks.
  • “It was nice see you again, Jin. Oh, and of course meeting your handsome soulmate.”
  • Your mother hugged both men, while you stood behind her kind of awkwardly. She then gestured at you to say goodbye, and you smiled when Jin embraced you. He didn’t say anything. His hug said it all. While wrapped around your best friend’s arms, you opened your eyes to see Namjoon looking at you. His warm smile making you feel once again terrible, for thinking of him of some sort of obstacle. He didn’t seem to see you that way at all.
  • Jin pulled back from the hug, and showed you his phone. Indicating you to stay in contact with him, now that he’s here in the area.
  • You nodded, and saw them head out. Probably to Jin’s home, where they’ll have much fun with his family. Namjoon glanced at you, one last time, before shyly waving goodbye to you.
  • “.....”
  • You hate yourself. How could think so negatively about him? God, what is wrong with you?
  • You rushed to get ahold of his sleeve. The tall male turned to look at you in surprise, yet he never pushed you away. Now that you managed to get his attention, you felt awkward about all this. You were ready to retreat from your idea, but when he smiled at you...that smile that was so sincere...
  • You took out your phone. Opening your Notes app, and rapidly typing down what you wanted to say.

  • We should exchange phone numbers.
  • If you want to, that is.

  • His eyes grew wide, he probably didn’t expect you to say that. You realized you had been holding your breath, until you let it out, once he nodded.
  • Why did he have to be such a nice guy? If he would have been a *, you wouldn’t feel a tad bit bad about treating him so badly. You were having him sit on this bipolar ride of yours, and yet he shows genuine interest in becoming a friend.
  • He gave you his phone number, and vise versa.
  • When you looked up, you saw his bright dimple smile, and the cheeky grin Jin was throwing at your direction.
  • Ugh, you hate him.
  • But you love him aswell.
  • And with that, they left. Leaving you back alone, with your mother and your thoughts. Your mother patted your back, and said something along the lines of “it’s okay”, and the rest you really didn’t pay attention to.
  • “Jungkook, we should have gone after Jimin.” Taehyung said. He was currently holding hands with Jungkook, as they were walking to Taehyung’s place.
  • Jungkook frowned, as he couldn’t exactly respond to that. He would have gone after Jimin, but he didn’t want to risk Taehyung’s safety.
  • Him being mute, didn’t stop Taehyung from talking though.
  • “I mean, this happens to all of us. I wouldn’t have been mad at him or anything. I mean- I know he isn’t supposed to touch anyone, until he finds his soulmate...” Taehyung frowned. If only he could see, he would have taken off after him.
  • “But forgetting you can’t do things that are normal... is normal for us. I know that sometimes, I forget I’m blind! I sometimes...think I’m just sleep walking. I’m living this life, but with my eyes closed. Do you get it?” He turned to where Jungkook was, and was met with silence.
  • He did feel Jungkook tug on his hand though. His way of saying “yes”.
  • “Like, maybe...I’m not trying hard enough to open them.” Taehyung said. He went quiet, as he remembered those times he would get depressed over not seeing anything. Sleeping and being awake, were always the same.
  • They came to a halt, and Jungkook tapped Taehyung’s shoulder with his other hand.
  • “Huh? Are we at my place?” Taehyung asked. Jungkook nodded, though he quickly remembered Taehyung was blind, so he tugged on his hand again.
  • “Oh...well, thank you, Kookie.” Taehyung said. He smiled at Jungkook, though he could tell it was a bit forced. Carefully, Jungkook guided Taehyung to the front door of his home.
  • “You should look for Jimin...since you can...yknow, see.” Taehyung let out a chuckle, and Jungkook tugged on his hand again.
  • “Thank you.” Taehyung said. This smile more sincere than the last one. With that, he turned around to enter his home.
  • Jungkook had turned to the left, and his eyes grew wide.
  • Jimin.
  • Jimin was walking to them, holding a white plastic bag. The logo was that of the convenience store nearby, and it seemed to be full of snacks!
  • Taehyung had just closed the door, when Jungkook began to rapidly knock the wooden door.
  • “Kookie?! What’s wrong?” Confused, and alarmed, Taehyung immediately opened the door and gasped when Jungkook dragged him back out.
  • “J-Jungkook!?” Taehyung yelled, trying to get Jungkook to stop walking so fast.
  • He then stopped when he heard a plastic bag. How could he NOT know that sound?
  • But...Jungkook wasn’t holding a plastic bag...
  • Then...
  • “Jimin?” Taehyung asked.
  • “.....Hey...” Jimin answered.
  • None of them knew what to say. Jimin had to be the one to talk.
  • “I’m sorry...I...yeah.” He pulled back his soft hair, as he let out a sigh.
  • “I brought us some snacks...you said you wanted us to...eat some. While...while we go to the park.”
  • Jungkook, smiled at Jimin. He was happy to know he was okay, and that he brought snacks. He did notice the slight redness on Jimin’s eyes though. They were a bit puffy too. He had been crying...
  • “Yeah! Let me just- let me change into something more comfortable! Come on in! You can wait for me, inside!” Taehyung said. He grabbed Jungkook’s hand, and they all went inside Taehyung’s house.
  • “Mom! Mom, I’m going out with my buddies!” Taehyung announced while walking in. His mother peeked from the kitchen and smiled at the trio.
  • “Alright, go and change.” She said. “Hi you two.” She smiled.
  • “Hello.” Jimin said, he and Jungkook both bowed down in respect, and shyly took a seat in the living room.
  • “I’ll be back real quick!” Taehyung said. He dashed to his room, which always amazed Jungkook. He probably memorized where everything in his house is located, to the point where he doesn’t seem to be blind at all. He ran to his room, rather naturally.
  • “Kook...”
  • Jimin’s voice quickly got his attention, and Jungkook turned to look at his friend.
  • “Sorry about that. I-I’m not mad at you at all. In case you..thought I was. I...also hope you’re not mad at me. ” Jimin said.
  • Jungkook smiled, and opened his backpack. Taking out his notebook and his pencil, he began to write down something. Jimin leaned close to read what was being written.
  • “I’ll...forgive you...if you...give me all...the...sna-HEY! Some of these are for me and Taehyung too, y’know! Don't you ever get full!?” Jimin yelled. Jungkook smiled, and began to laugh. No noise was coming out, but his body did all the talking. He was shaking nonstop, and smiling so brightly.
  • “Ya! I’m being serious here, and all you think about is food! What will your soulmate think, when they find out you’re like this?” Jimin sighed.
  • He looked at Jungkook, after seeing him begin to write down something again.
  • With a frown, Jimin leaned close again to read.
  • “I swear if it’s a comment about my height or something...” He thought.
  • “I don’t...think I’ll...find them....like...ever.” Jimin sighed, looking at Jungkook. Who had stopped giggling, and was now looking more serious.
  • “Don’t think that way, it’ll happen. Your parents met at some point, right?” Jimin said. He wanted to hug Jungkook right now, but couldn’t. He could only look at him, and hope his words and eyes could be enough to comfort him.
  • “You gotta believe, Kookie. My grandmother said that the stronger you believe in meeting them, the faster time and destiny will move for you two.” He said.
  • Jungkook rolled his eyes. Right... As if believing gets you anywhere.
