Hate to Love You / Returning Home Without You
Hate to Love You
  • “Instead of training this morning, I am going to fly you back to your house so you can pick up the last of your things. We’ll stay the night “Instead of training this morning, I am going to fly you back to your house so you can pick up the last of your things. We’ll stay the night there and then come back home for the mission tomorrow. I will be buying your house to keep it renovated.” Mr. Kim says. “Since your father is….gone…we will be combining forces. So all your Mafia men and women will become one with mine.” He says, as my brother and sister and I walk into the dinning room. Taehyung’s already eating.
  • “Thanks for waiting.” I joke, sitting down next to him.
  • “You’re welcome.” He replies, winking at me. “You sleep well?” he asks, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.
  • “Yeah.” I say. “You?”
  • “Yup.” he replies.
  • “Wait, did I miss something?” Mr. Kim asks.
  • “Yup.” Sakura says. “They looooove each other.”
  • “I swear if you don’t stop teasing me.” I say.
  • “Ok, fine.” She says. We all eat our breakfast and then get our stuff ready to go to our house.
  • “You guys ready?” Mr. Kim asks. “Taehyung is coming with us.” Sakura looks at me and I smile a little.
  • “Yeah, we’re ready.” She says. We walk to the car.
  • “I don’t know if I’m ready to go back without Father.” I say.
  • “We’re all gonna be with you.” My brother says.
  • “I guess so. Oh wait! I need to get Kimchi.” I run back inside and grab Kimchi from my room. I come back and everyone’s already waiting for me in the car. I open the door and hop in. They left me a seat next to Taehyung. Kimchi crawls out of my lap onto Taehyung’s.
  • “He is pretty cute, even though I like dogs better.” He grins at me.
  • “He likes you. Look he’s purring.”
  • “Well who doesn’t like me?” He teases. “I’m a very likable person.”
  • “I don’t know about that.” I reply, jokingly.
  • “You like me.” He states. I go silent. “And I hear you’re very hard to please.”
  • “Ok. Good point.” I say quietly.
  • We finally arrive at the airport, the one my father was shot in, and rush to their private jet. Once we get on, the jet takes off and we head to our mansion. A few hours later we arrived. We grab our luggage and drive to the mansion. Taehyung also brought Kimchi inside. I drop my bags on the floor as soon as we walk in. The last time I was here, my father was telling us to behave at the Kim’s mansion. I begin to cry. Taehyung tries to comfort me but I push him away and rush into my fathers room. I run to the side of his bed and kneel down by it. I cry and cry until my sister walks in.
  • “Akari, I put your bags in your room.” She sits next to me and strokes my back.
  • “I don’t care.” I snap and shoo her hand away. “Just leave me alone.” I get up and walk into the backyard. I mosey to the gazebo in my secret spot and lean against the railing.
  • This spot is usually dark due to all the trees blocking out the sunlight, so the lights around the pond were turned on. Why did Mr. Kim make us come back here? I don’t think I can handle spending the night here without my father being here too. I begin to silently cry. A few minutes later I hear a rustling in the leaves behind me. Sakura probably came to comfort me. I don’t want to talk to anyone right now.
  • “Sakura, I told you to leave me alone.” I turn around and Taehyung’s standing right in front of me. “Oh, it’s you.” I say, shyly. Then it dawned on me:
  • “Wait, how’d you find this place?”
  • “I asked Sakura where you were and she told me you’d be here.”
  • “I told her not to tell anyone. This is a place where I can be alone.” I glare at him. “Hint, hint.”
  • “I just wanted to see if you’re ok.”
  • “Do I look ok to you?” I snap. “Your dad forced us to come back here AFTER my father dies. I just can’t. I’m sorry but I can’t.”
  • “Can’t what?” He asks.
  • “Can’t stay the night here without him. I miss him.” I start crying again.
  • “It’s ok. Come here.” I rush into his arms and cry into his shoulder.
  • “You’ve made me such a softie.” I complain. “I never used to cry in front of anyone. I hate you for that.” He chuckles.
  • “Whatever.” He replies. “I know you don’t hate me.” He strokes my back. “It’s ok to cry.”
  • “I’ve never seen you cry.” I snap.
  • “Well I cried when my mom died.”
  • “Well I didn’t see that.”
  • “I cry if I see any spider.” I laugh a little.
  • “Well I nearly cried the other day when I saw that snake. But that’s the only thing I’m afraid of.”
  • “I have two fears.”
  • “Spiders and what’s the other one?”
  • “I can’t tell you.”
  • “Why not?”
  • “I’ll tell you when I’m ready.”
  • “Ok fine.” I let go of him and sit on the bench.
  • “Are you feeling better?” He asks me as I wipe the tears off my face.
  • “For now.” I reply. “As long as I keep my mind off him, I’ll be fine.”
  • “Then what do you want to do?”
  • “I wish we stayed at training today for our mission tomorrow. I’m nervous. I’ve never been on a mission with you and your gang. It’s gonna be so different.”
  • “I know. But I’m kinda excited. My first mission with you.” He takes my hand. I smile. “I won’t let anything happen to you.” I raise my eyebrows at him.
  • “You’re acting like my boyfriend.” I say.
  • “Well maybe I wanna be.”
  • “What if I don’t want you to be.” I cross my arms.
  • “Then I can’t make you accept me.” He says.
  • “Well I do.”
  • “You do what?”
  • “I accept you.”
  • “Actually? Wow I was kinda kidding. I wasn’t expecting you to say that. So you really-” Before he says anything else, I lean over and peck his lips.
  • “Stop talking before I change my mind.” I stand up and start walking away. I glance at him and he’s still just sitting there. I laugh. “You coming?” He stands up and walks beside me, still not saying a word. I grab his hand and we walk back towards the house.
  • “So you’re just gonna kiss me and walk away?” He asks, stopping at the patio by the door.
  • He grabs both of my hands.
  • “You didn’t have my permission to just walk away like that.”
  • “What do you mean? I-” He pulls me to him and kisses me, not giving me a chance to finish my sentence.
  • Taehyung’s POV
  • I interrupt her sentence by kissing her. She smiles in the kiss as I place my arms around her waist, pulling her closer. She wraps her arms around my neck and returns the kiss. After a minute or so, I slowly pull away from her. She looks at the floor. I lift her chin up with my finger.
  • “What’s wrong?” I ask her.
  • “Nothing. It’s just that….That was my first kiss.” She blushes.
  • “Well, did I do a good job?” I joke. She blushes even more.
  • “Stop.” She smacks my shoulder.
  • “You’re so cute.” I grab her hand as we walk inside. Sakura’s sitting in the dining room.
  • “Hey Akari. Are you feeling better?” She asks in a suspicious tone.
  • “Why’d you say it like that?” Akari asks.
  • “No reason.”
  • “Well yes. I’m feeling better. Thanks to Taehyung. He helped calm me down.”
  • “Oh I bet he did.” She says.
  • “Why are you being so weird?” Akari asks.
  • “I’m not, I just saw you kissing him outside.” She mumbles the last part.
  • “What?” Akari asks. “I didn’t understand you.”
  • “I saw you kissing Taehyung.” She mumbles again.
  • “Ok, you’re annoying me. Just tell me what you said.”
  • “Ok but don’t be mad at me.” Akari nods. Sakura sighs. “I saw you kissing Taehyung outside on the porch.” Akari goes wide eyed.
  • “You what?” Her face goes red. “Oh my god. Now you’re never gonna stop-”
  • “Teasing you. Exactly.” Sakura says.
  • “Welp. I’ll be in my room if you need me.” Akari says. She walks upstairs.
  • “Where’s my room?” I ask Sakura.
  • “Ask Akari.” She replies.
  • “Ok, then.” I walk after Akari. “Wait up.” She stops and turns to me.
  • “Yes?” She says.
  • “Sakura told me to ask you where my room is.”
  • “Oh. Come with me.” She takes my arm and walks up the stairs. We walk down the hallway and reach the room. “We never really have guests so it’s pretty dingy in there.” She opens the door.
  • “It’s also the smallest room.” She says.
  • “You’re right it is small.”
  • “Yeah sorry it’s so small.”
  • “That’s ok, baby. I’ll be fine.”
  • “You better not start calling me that.” She says.
  • “But-” She puts her finger up to my lip.
  • “Just don’t, ok?”
  • “Ok.” I reply. “Now where are my bags?”
  • “I don’t know.” She leaves the room and walks to her own room.
  • “Are you not gonna help me look for them?” I ask.
  • “Nope. That sounds like an issUe not an issme.” She bends down to pet Kimchi. “Oh wait, they’re right there.” She points to her bed. “I’m sure Sakura put them in here.” She rolls her eyes. “Typical. Here you go.” She picks up my bags and hands them to me.
  • “Thank you very much.” I bow to her.
  • “You’re very welcome.” She returns the bow.
  • “Oh, also, What time is dinner?” I ask.
  • “We don’t have a set dinner time. Just go downstairs and ask the cooks for something when you’re hungry.”
  • “Really?”
  • “Yup. I know. It’s different from what you’re used to. Father just made sure that we still got to choose our schedules.”
  • “Oh ok. That's cool.”
  • “I know.” She walks to me and kisses my cheek. “Goodnight.” She says.
  • “Goodnight.” I reply. I walk to my room and put my bags away.
  • End of Taehyung’s POV
  • I sit on my bed and take a break from packing while thinking about earlier.
  • I actually kissed Taehyung. I smile to myself. I really, really like him and I’m glad he feels the same way about me. We already had dinner and now I’m packing the rest of my stuff so we can move it to Taehyung’s house. I can’t believe we have to move in with them. Ugh! I mean, I like Taehyung, but I don’t want to live at his house. He’s very annoying sometimes. I might as well just stay up all night tonight because there’s no way I’ll be able to sleep here with the haunting memory of my father. Kimchi climbs into my lap and rubs his little head against my stomach.
  • “I wish you could’ve met Father. He would have loved you.” I pet his head. He starts purring. “You promise you won’t leave me like my parents did?” He paws at my hand. “I’ll take that as a yes.” Sakura walks into my room. “You need to knock next time.”
  • “Why? It’s not like you were making out with Taehyung.”
  • “If you don’t stop with that I swear.”
  • “What are you gonna do, break up with him?” She teases.
  • “Well….no. But just stop. This is why I didn’t really want a boyfriend in the first place.”
  • “I know you’re happy with him.”
  • “It’s literally only been a few hours.” I say.
  • “But still.” She replies. I roll my eyes.
  • “Whatever. Why did you come in here anyway?” I ask her.
  • “I came to keep you company. You’ve been in your room all day today.”
  • “And that’s a problem, how?”
  • “It’s not. I just thought you’d be lonely.”
  • “I’d honestly prefer to be alone.” I say.
  • “Too bad. I’m lonely.”
  • “I guess there’s no changing your mind then?”
  • “Nope.” She answers. She sits down on my bed and we chat until 10:30 pm. I yawn.
  • “I’m a little tired, Sakura. But I don’t wanna sleep.” She grabs my hand.
  • “It’s ok. If you need anything, just come get me ok?” She says. I nod.
  • “Thanks.” I hug her. “You’re the best sister ever.”
  • “I know.” She jokes, hugging me back. “I love you, Akari.”
  • “Love you too sis. Goodnight.”
  • “Night.” She says, standing up and walking out of the room. I scoot Kimchi over a little bit, lie down on my bed, hop under the covers, and switch off the lamp. I roll over to face Kimchi.
  • “Goodnight, Kimchi.” I pet his head. He curls up into a ball next to me. I watch his little belly rise and fall for a few minutes before drifting off to sleep.
