Book one: The Misfortunate One
  • Gillen knew about the dangers that lied ahead for his granddaughter, so he looked at the male skeptically. “Why do you want to know where she is? What business do you have with my granddaughter?”
  • “I must talk with her before my leader finds her and kills her.”
  • Hearing the male speak Reyna walked towards them. “That’s rather skeptical of you to say. Who are you? And what do you want with Reyna?”
  • “My name is Damien. I am a forced follower of the Jeckel walkers, A group that has been raised and grown to take down the woman of prophet. For years we’ve been doing recon to figure out who she is, what she looks like and her weaknesses. I personally want nothing more than to warn her about going to certain places. If she does…she will die without a great number of people on her side that care for her and will protect her.”
  • Reyna internally felt scared of what she was hearing, but she knew that it was part of her job. She had to deal with the situation as it was. “Well Damien, you’ve warned her. Leave before I have one of those who are around me faithfully to kill you before you are to report back to your leader.” Reyna said coldly
  • He stiffened hearing her cold tone. “W-Wait…You’re Reyna? You don’t look as strong as people make you out to be. We’ve gotten recon from the land of wraiths and demons stating that you were this strong person who managed to do so much-yet…you don’t look the part.”
  • Reyna was quick to move herself and pin the male to a nearby table with her arm against his throat as her green eyes looked into his blue eyes. “Just because I am how I am doesn’t mean that I don’t have the strength to do what is needed. Leave before you are killed”
  • Damien nodded his head quickly before she let him go-he bolted out of the bakery rushing with fear. She looked at Zeph and Avery. “Follow him quietly and tell me where he goes.”
  • They nodded their heads and left behind the male. Reyna then looked at Richard. “Richard if you do not use the place you once called home or believe it is there. I will personally use it as a safe haven for those who are with me. What will it be?”
  • “Use it as you want, I don’t think you understand what you’re getting yourself into child.” Richard said with a scoff
  • “I don’t think you understand me. But whatever.” She said before she looked at Ella, Hyun and Nala. “Ella-Nala you two will come with me. Hyun, I need you to stay here and wait for Avery and Zeph to come back. Your marking with me and your bond with me will tell you where I’ll be.”
  • Hyun nodded his head. “Yes princess.”
  • Reyna looked at Nala. “Let’s go bestie.”
  • “Yes ma’am!” She said happily
  • The three females left out together, as they flew across the human cities Reyna patted the side of Nala. “Get higher in the sky.”
  • “Gotcha!”
  • Nala did what she was told and by the time it was dark out they had managed to get to where they saw a few people who were known by Reyna. She jumped off of Nala getting her wings out before she went up to the small group of people. “Lord Bryce…Goddess Tina. It’s good to see the two of you.”
  • “Hey kiddo. How have things been for ya?” Bryce asked
  • “Could be better, could be worse.” She said with a shrug
  • “That bad huh? Have you met up with your ancestors yet?” Tina asked with a smile
  • She nodded her head with a smile. “I have, did you two knew they’d be alive?”
  • “Yeah, we did. But we promised them we’d never say anythin’ about them being alive to their blood.” Bryce stated
  • “Huh…interesting. So any real reason on why they had to hide themselves?” Reyna asked
  • “It’s because of me kiddo. Sorry but I needed them to step down when they did.” Tyche said as she came out of the building
  • Reyna raised an eyebrow at Tyche. “Okay may I ask why goddess?”
  • “For your fate to begin I needed them to leave and for Emilia and Zavier to meet. Sure they aren’t the best of either race but they were the ones that I could have meet one another at this very place.” Tyche said sadly
  • “Oh…I see. So how many of you gods repaired this place?”
  • “All of us who have blessed you princess, we figured if the ignorant ruler of the founders wasn’t going to take his place. You could use it as a place to call ‘home’ that was safe.” William said as he appeared behind Tyche
  • Tyche moved so she wasn’t in the doorway and William went up to Reyna. “I know that you have a lot of things going on for you on this land. You will need a place where you can retreat to. You cannot trust anyone in this land without good reason.”
  • “I’m aware of that. I have already met up with one of the people who wished for my death. As of now Avery and Zeph are tailing him to see where he goes and to see if we can put an end to all of this nonsense.” Reyna stated
  • William sighed out. “I see, so it has already begun for you.”
  • Tyche then spoke up. “Child, since you are one of my own and you have been blessed not only by me but by five other gods, I will let you in on something that will help place things in your favor.”
  • Reyna raised an eyebrow at Tyche. “Yes Goddess Tyche?”
  • “One of the males within the ranks of the Jeckel walkers can become an ally if you move quickly and filter him out. His name is Damien Jocey. He was forced into the walkers by his own family who dislikes you. He doesn’t see what you do is wrong. If you come across a pale skinned male with blue eyes and raven hair-he is going to be your ticket to making sure things go your way.” Tyche stated
  • Reyna was in thought for a moment before she looked at Tyche in shock. “I have met him, he is the one that Avery and Zeph are following.”
  • “Then it will be very easy for you to befriend the male and have him be a secret agent for you.” Tyche said with a smile
  • “Hopefully. I do not wish for death if I can help it.”
  • William crossed his arms. “Spoken like a true pacifist. No wonder my mother puts so much trust in you.”
  • At that time Ryse came out of the sword and she stood beside Reyna. “William it will almost be time for me to come home, when that time comes we can speak about what I’ve missed.”
  • William gave his mother a small smile. “Sure thing mother. I’d love that-and I’m pretty sure the others would like to talk to you too.”
  • “Speaking of your siblings, have they not yet made themselves known to Reyna? She could use their help.” Ryse stated sadly
  • William sighed out. “After coming to her in her dreams, none of them see her worthy of protection due to her getting over emotional about seeing the ‘what if’ of deaths if she wasn’t born.”
  • Hearing what William said *ed off Ryse. Ryse balled her hands up and she looked at Reyna. “Once you are fully rested we have work to do. I wish to go to all of my childrens nearest temples and give them an earful! They shouldn’t be acting so rude to you when you have every reason to act as you have!”
  • “Ryse, as much as I know you care a lot about me-I’m fine with the blessings that I already have.”
  • “I do believe my mother wishes for you to have the blessings of all of her children. You already have the lighter half of her children's blessings plus the blessing of her and her husband. Not to mention her best friend and her best friend's husband. Do you remember what I told you about who my siblings are?” William asked
  • Reyna nodded her head. “I do.”
  • “REYNA!!!” Nala shouted scared as she and Ella bolted towards her
  • Reyna looked behind her to Nala and Ella only to see that a few people in dark cloaks were coming close to them. Reyna sighed out. “Oh great..”
  • William went past her with his mace out. “We’ll talk more when you’re safe. Get inside.”
  • She nodded her head and she motioned for Nala and Ella to follow suit. They did rather quickly. As they watched through a window they saw Tyche, Bryce, Tina and William work together. Bryce and Tina used flames to burn a circle around the group of black hooded males before Tyche and William used their kattana and Mace respectfully to take out the group with no mercy.
  • Bryce took out of his cloak a lantern that harvested the souls of those who were killed. Ryse placed her hand against Reyna’s shoulder. “This is just the start. My children should all be helping you survive. I mainly wish for you to have the blessings of Toni and Yasmin.”
  • “I get Yasmin because of her being who she is, but why Toni?”
  • “It will strengthen your bond with Nala, making her stronger. The stronger she is the more she’ll be able to do to protect you.” Ryse stated
  • Nala’s eyes lit up hearing Ryse speak. “So if she gets lord Toni’s blessing, I’ll be able to help her out more?”
  • Ryse nodded her head. “Yes, I wish for you to be more helpful towards her if possible.”
  • Nala jumped a bit excited. “I want that too! I don’t like running off cause I’m not strong enough!”
  • Ella then spoke up. “How can I be of service to Reyna, it is unlike me to run from things. But those men were too strong for me.”
  • Ryse was in thought. “Hm..Your creator isn’t close to me or talks to me. I don’t know how Sandra does things. So I cannot say for sure, but if we can find one of her temples we can ask her about that.”
  • Ella frowned but nodded her head. “Yes ma’am of course.”
  • “Sorry kiddo, I may have made the world we’re all in-but that doesn’t mean that I am friendly with every single god or goddess. There are people even I don’t know well.” Ryse said sadly
  • Ella shook her head. “It’s okay, I get it. I’m not mad or upset. I just don’t want to seem useless. I was born and bred to fight. If I cannot do that then what use am I?”
  • “You are more than that Ella.” Reyna said sincerely. “You just need to find your calling outside of what was pushed onto you.”
  • Ella frowned a bit as she heard Reyna speak. “I-I don’t know…B-But I guess I can try.”
  • Once the gods came into the building Bryce looked at Reyna. “Those six were spies. They followed you after Damien had managed to flee from that bakery. Instead of going back with him they followed you. After going through their memories they went against their orders and would have been killed anyway. So with that being said I need to take these little babies back to the underworld. Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone.”
  • Reyna chuckled a bit. “Wouldn’t dream of it, Sir.” She said with a smile
  • He patted the top of her head. “That’s a good little prophet girl. Be back in a jiffy!”
  • Tina shook her head. “That man..he never changes. Now, while we wait for Bryce to come back-I’d like to take you around this place. It isn’t as it was before, William and I both figured that Richard wouldn’t be coming back here.”
  • Reyna nodded her head. “I-I’d like that a lot, Goddess Tina.”
  • William and Tina walked ahead of her as she walked with Ella and Nala on either side of her while Ryse was behind her with Tyche. She could hear the two of them talk while they walked.
  • “So, how’s living in a sword going for you?” Tyche teased
  • “Not as well as I thought it’d be. I don’t understand why people think that just anyone could ever hold my sword. I made it ifor Reyna. Don’t people know how to read prophecies properly?” Ryse said with a huff
  • Tyche laughed a bit. “You know as much as I do that the people of that world don’t know how to do anything right. It’s how Reyna is how she is now.”
  • “And whose fault is that? Instead of *ing your boyfriend you should have been doing your damn job like every other damn god.”
  • “What about Dite?! She isn’t doing her job either! By now that girl should have three lovers but they’ve all been friend-zoned cause Dite ain’t doin’ *!”Tyche said pouting
  • William stopped and turned back to look at his mother and Tyche. “Aphrodite is currently busy trying to work out that situation right now. The woman of prophet should by now have three lovers not three highly possessive males who have hormone problems. The fact that they’ve been ‘friend-zoned’ as you place it Tyche is because you’ve been slacking off with helping her out. You shouldn’t be here-you should be up above. Helping her with getting things where they need to be.”
  • Tina frowned as she heard her brother speak. “Brother…”
  • William looked at Tina sadly “I am aware that you were once in Reyna’s shoes, that this is just a rerun for you but now you being a helper not the main act. From what I’ve seen Tyche needs to stop being a lazy *. If Reyna is to go through with what she needs to do, she must have things be as they should otherwise everything will be out of balance.”
  • Reyna looked at William stunned. “How do you know so much about what is supposed to happen?”
  • William took a deep breath before he looked at Reyna. “Those who are close to the Goddess Ryse were given a parchment that stated what will come to be in years to come. We were to look out for signs of a young woman of demon and angel upbring. She will be that of a pacifist. Her heart will be as innocent as her body, her mind only that of a strong willed magic user that wishes peace nothing more. The prophet states that when the dark cloaks begin to appear she will have three lovers. One of dark upbringing and two of light.”
  • “Avery, Zeph and Hyun.” Nala stated stunned
  • “That’s correct young dark dragon, it states that the three of them will use their united common ground of love for the prophet to over take all that the dark cloaks have infected.” William stated
  • “It has not been stated yet that they have that type of affection towards Reyna yet.” Tina said with a shake of her head.
  • “Avery has shown me affection, as has Zeph…I do not know about Hyun. But he’s gone this far with me-he’s done so much for me. No doubt he shares the feeling. He’s been more than protective over me…his protective instincts aren’t just because of him being a dragon. I know that much.” Reyna explained
  • “I see, well until they confess their love to you it means no different than a friend with benefit,”William stated.
  • Reyna let out a small sigh of defeat. “All three of them are away from me right now-they should be hearing this right now.”
  • “I can tell you right now, they’re doing what they are because they love you.” A blond female with blue eyes stated as she had her arms crossed
  • She appeared in front of a doorway close by. William gave the female a small smile. “Aphrodite. Have you worked out your problem?”
  • “For the most part, yes, but it will shake up the little girl here. So I wanted to warn her.”
  • Tina sighed out. “First you play puppet master with me-now her? You enjoy toying with the hearts and minds of the mortal realm, don't you dite?”
  • “Hey I’m doing this because it’s my job alright? Anyways, William got it spot on earlier. Had I had Tyche’s help-this wouldn’t be happening. But because she’s ever so lazy and doesn’t like doing her job I have to improvise.” Aphrodite stated with a huff before she looked at Reyna.
  • Reyna stiffened a bit seeing that the goddess of love had her eyes on her. Aphrodite went up to her and cupped her face. “You have three amazing males who are doing what they can to protect you. They love you Reyna. Make no mistake about that. Of course you knew that of Avery-you’ve known him for goodness knows how long now. But Zeph and Hyun…They love you just as much. Within the time you’ve spent with them alone and together-it is very clear to me that they’re doing what they can to make sure you live and survive what is happening to you.”
  • “B-But in the end…d-don’t I have to choose one of them?” Reyna asked confused
  • Tina scoffed a bit. “Nope, you my dear are going to have three different husbands. One for the land of wraiths, one for the angels and one for the elementals. Granted you probably should be with someone for the other kingdoms too-like I had to. But you’ll get that sooner or later. Trust me…it’s a pain in the ass. You will get fatigued and you will want to stray from your purpose.”
  • Reyna looked at Tina sadly. “How did you manage to do what was asked of you Goddess Tina?”
  • “I had one of my many husbands be my rock-the one who I had as my rock was my first husband. He was that of shadow and dark magic…much like your wraith lover. If you wish to have him become your rock then I can make sure that whenever he is around you and has skin contact-he will calm you down and make you think rationally and you will do the same to him.” Tina stated. “He is the offspring of my first beloved son after all, I want only the best for my baby’s people.”
  • Reyna nodded her head. “Out of the three males that I am connected to-the one that I feel the safest around as of now is Avery. I’ve gone through so much with him; emotionally, physically and mentally. I wouldn’t want anyone else to be there for me like he is.”
  • Tina went up to her and she placed her hand over the wraith mark upon her arm. “By the power vested in me as the goddess of magic and the sole creator of the wraiths that walk the ground. I hereby grant the sole wraith who is connected to this mark greater speed, strength and power when they are away from their connected mate. I also hereby grant the sole wraith who is connected to this mark the power to console and calm the mark carrier when they are in turmoil.”
  • Reyna winced in pain but didn’t make a sound otherwise about the pain she had felt. When Tina pulled away from her, she smiled. “There we go-that should help him out a bit.”
  • “I thank you for giving Avery the power he’ll need to protect me, Goddess Tina.”
  • Tina nodded her head before William placed his hand on the top of her head. “He isn’t the only one who is about to get a power boost. I’m not letting my sister's people outshine mine, this will hurt you and I apologize but it must be how it is child.”
  • “O-Okay.”
  • William placed his hand against her other arm over the mark for the elementals. “Deep breaths child. This is going to hurt more than a bit for what I am about to do.”
  • Reyna took a deep breath as she nodded her head.
  • “I, William God of destruction and thunder hereby give the mark barrier Reyna the power to sense where her elemental partner is at all times. Entwined with that gift I also give the elemental partner the power to cast above his own level as long as the barrier of the mark is out of sight of the partner. His spells will be stronger and have a stronger effect as long as he places his whole heart and mind into what he casts.”
  • Reyna gritted her teeth as she felt her arm burn from the power that was bestowed upon her and Zeph. Once William moved away from her she fell to get ground onto her knees as she tried to compose herself. “T-This is too much…I…I don’t know what will happen to either one of those two. I don’t want them to get hurt.” Reyna said sadly
  • Ella and Nala looked at one another before they both knelt down to Reyna. “We’ll go find the boys, stay here where you’re safe and rest.” Ella said seriously
  • “I can find Hyun’s scent and we can give them back up support. I’m not having no smelly males get all the action and fun!” Nala stated as she looked determined
  • Reyna looked between the two girls before she shut her eyes. “Fine-Go. But be careful. And if you find Damien again-bring him here knocked out. I don’t want him figuring out where we are.”
  • “Yes, Reyna.” They said in unison before they rushed out.
  • Tyche frowned and she picked up the young red haired demoness. “There-there child. I’ll carry you the rest of the way. Until you are fully rested I will be sure no one will bother you.”
  • She nodded her head. “T-Thank you Goddess Tyche.” She said tiredly
  • When Tyche took her to a bedroom to rest she placed the female down and let her rest. Tyche then shut the door placing a magic seal upon it before she looked at the gods that were there.
  • “I *ed up-I know that I have. I will go up now and make things right. Seeing her in pain-seeing what William and Tina did because of my lack of working…I know what I should have done. So I will know that I’ve seen with my eyes the struggle and suffering Reyna has gone through because of what I haven’t done.”
  • “Good-maybe you’ll finally stop slacking off. I want my mother back.” William hissed out coldly
  • Tyche went back up to the godly plain as Tina leaned against the wall. “Took that * long enough.”
  • “No kidding, so…wanna bet on who will do more dearest sister?” William inquired
  • She chuckled a bit. “Sure-let’s make this fun shall we? Whoever loses has to tell mom the truth about her ‘husband’ who left the moment he felt her aura.”
  • “Oh you *…Fine.”
  • Aphrodite shook her head. “I have to say…I’m impressed you two aren’t at each other's throats.”
  • “We’ve learnt to cope with one another.” William said with a shrug
  • “It’s not like either one of us can die. So trying to kill one another is out of the option.” Tina said with a shrug
  • “But you can become human again-keep that in mind.” Aphrodite stated
  • “I’m well aware of that and ye-old, old fart said that it’d never happen again less it was dire.” Tina stated. “And I hope that's never cause I hated being human.”
  • “What’s so bad about being human? You can actually have a family.” Aphrodite said with a shrug
  • “Been there-done that many times over. No thanks to you, Tyche and he we don’t mention anymore. Hadn’t it been for my beloved Bryce ya’ll would have been *ed.”Tina stated
  • “What about being *ed? Did I miss something?” Bryce asked as he showed up beside Tina
  • Tina laughed. “Oh you…always with the puns huh?”
  • “Hey you know me. Puns and sarcasm is my way of life.” Bryce said with a grin
  • She leaned against him as she was gone laughing. “Oh I love you!”
  • “Love you too hun, but seriously. What did I walk into?” Bryce asked
  • “Tina and Dite were talking about the past. When Tina had been human and how she turned human to begin with.” William explained “Tina reminded Dite that hadn’t it been for her, Tyche and one male who she won’t say the name of, that she wouldn’t have been human to begin with.”
  • “Technically-no but yes at the same time.”Bryce said before he squished tina’s face. “Your lovely sister here has been a goddess longer than you’ve been around for. BUT because of how things went her life as a goddess went back to square one cause of technicalities and her not remembering anything about being a goddess.” Bryce stated “I had to teach her the ropes which took a while before you and the other shumcklings got to know her.”
  • “So wait…she’s actually the eldest?” William stated shocked
  • “Yeah, but she doesn’t care either way. Isn’t that right Tina?” Bryce said between squishing her cheeks
  • She hit him in the gut hard, making him let go of her cheeks before she looked at william. “I don’t give a damn about age or who was alive first. I care about who cares about us as a family. Obviously the only one that does is you. So you are the only one who will know the truth. Keep it to yourself.”
  • William nodded his head. “I can do that…so you’re never going to tell the others Tina?”
  • “Nope I have no reason to, if they want to be ignorant to what is around them. Then fine. I’ll let mother take care of them-I’ll let the fact that they’re supposed to be helping that poor child out, to our mother. She can yell at them and give them hell.”
  • “I see, well I’ll keep it to myself then. I must ask you though Tina…Being that you were once human. What is your take on what is happening here?” William asked
  • “It’s worse than what I dealt with. I mainly dealt with Chaotic demons that fed off of my magic or negative thoughts. They absorbed different kinds of magic but were weak against swords and the like. Not to mention power hungry elders who thought they could two time me and any promise they had made me. I never had to go through all of the * Reyna’s going through. For the most of what I did-I had the support of my parents. Sure those who I knew as my siblings where whores and hated me for being the ‘perfect child’ to the Wright bloodline…but I didn’t think that what I did would cause this to happen.”
  • “That is very true, your ‘parents’ did support you until things became too real for them. Too stressful.” Bryce commented “That’s when things went downhill.”
  • “Reyna doesn’t have anyone family wise that is around her age to lean against. Sure Onyx and Gillen are on her side-but they can only do so much. When it is time for Reyna to marry…she won’t have anyone to be there for her. She’ll be all alone. I fear that she won’t want to go forth with her life because of that.”
  • William and Bryce were both quiet as they heard Tina speak, they knew that what she spoke was the truth. Both of them knew it too, especially William since he had heard straight from Reyna that she didn’t hail with her demon or angelic side. She really was a misfortunate one in their situation-and neither male knew what to do to help other than what they have done thus far.
