A Nightmare Unleashed / Chapter Five
A Nightmare Unleashed
  • After the meeting was over, Ajax asked Lyra to stay behind for a moment. "Lyra," he said, "I know this must be a difficult time for you. The pack and I will do everything in our power to protect you, but I understand if you feel uncomfortable staying in your own home."
  • Lyra looked down, unsure of what to say. She  couldn't deny the fear that had taken hold of her since Theron had arrived.
  • Ajax seemed to understand her hesitation. "Listen," he said gently, "I know it's not an ideal situation. But if you feel like you'd be safer here, I'd like to offer you a room in my home."
  • Lyra looked up at him in surprise. She hadn't expected such a generous offer.
  • "Of course," Ajax continued, "you're more than welcome to come and go as you please. And if you'd prefer to stay in your own home, we'll do everything we can to make sure it's safe for you."
  • Lyra thought about his offer for a moment before nodding. "Thank you," she said quietly. "I appreciate it."
  • Ajax smiled, relief evident in his expression. "You're one of us, Lyra," he said. "We'll always take care of our own."
  • As she left Ajax's home and made her way back to her own, Lyra couldn't help but feel a sense of uncertainty. Was she really doing the right thing by accepting the alpha's offer? Would it really make her any safer?
  • But as she looked around at the familiar streets of her village, she knew that she had no other choice. Theron was out there somewhere, and she couldn't afford to take any chances.
  • So with a heavy heart, Lyra packed her things and made her way back to the alpha's home, hoping that it would be enough to keep her safe.
