Damian was carried back to Yingtai’s room, where he rested until his injuries were recovered.
When both Sadako and Yingtai set him down atop Yingtai’s bed, Yingtai said, “O lovely servant, it would be grateful if you would fetch more water from the well.”
“In my honor, your highness.” Sadako replied.
Yingtai was left to nurse the young nobleman whom she certainly adored. Damian’s fingers twitched.
And then, Yingtai interlocked her fingers with Damian’s hand. Sadako arrived with Harriet with a small pot of cold water and a cloth.
“Your bucket of water, your highness.” Harriet said, bowing her head.
Both servants left the princess alone with the fallen noble. Harriet then smiled and snickered, “She does love him, doesn’t she?”
“Of course, she does,” responded the agitated servant Sadako, “It was the first thing I had noticed when she screamed out his name. I had this odd feeling she was already in love. Didn’t she say anything before?”
“No, I don’t think she did.”
Meanwhile, Yingtai was washing the wounds from Damian’s waist and hands that were covered in blood.
I shall restore you back to health, even if it takes me all day to do so!
She then wrapped a bandage around the waist. After nursing all of Damian’s injuries, she then dressed him with the clothes that Harriet had also left behind.
And then, his fingers began to twitch again.
“Yingtai?” he said weakly.
Yingtai then sat up and rushed to Damian’s side. Slowly, he sat up. It did not take long for Damian to notice that he had a bandage all over his waist.
He then began to cough for a moment. Yingtai had poured a cup of cold water and handed it over for Damian to drink, in which he did.
“But why am I here?” he asked, “And how did you manage to save me from my false execution?”
Yingtai smiled, “I don’t know.”
After a few days, Damian quickly recovered, and he was ready to return to his Counseling Court, which had worried about him for so long.
But Damian wanted so badly to elope with her. He had to work up the courage to give out his love for her.
“A good persuasion.” Damian said, “Therefore, hear me, my love!”
“What is it?” Yingtai asked, “What is your greatest wish of your life?”
Damian took a deep breath…and then said, “If you love me, then steal forth from this very castle tomorrow night! I know a great place where we can stay forever, where we can bore a child or two together, a place where we can explore with our children! I am asking for your hand in marriage!”
Yingtai gasped. But then she turned away.
“O, shall you leave me so…unsatisfied?” asked Damian.
“But what else do you want?”
Damian stuttered, “Your love exchange for mine! I want to stay with you…for all eternity!”
Yingtai smiled, “And I, for myself!”
Yingtai flew into Damian’s arms, letting her love give his true affection to her.
“And yet I wish, but only for the one thing I have!” Yingtai said, “My bounty is as boundless as the sea! My love is deeper the more I give you! The more I have, for both are infinite!”
And then, the voice of Jadeus was heard.
“Damian!” he called.
“Yea, noise!” said Damian.
“What? Where?”
Jadeus’s voice grew louder and louder by the second.
“I have to go!” said Yingtai, “But I want to see you again. Tomorrow at the hour of nine in the evening, I have a party going on that only the grown-ups can attend. But you are considered a grown-up, so you can come from the balcony and we can go on from there!”
“But your betrothal!”
When Yingtai heard these words, “But how did you know?”
“While you were nursing me, other servants were all pleading insanity about your arranged marriage with the Prince of Spain! We must stop everything so that we can elope!”
“But…really…I must accept it! I have no choice!”
Damian pulled Yingtai to his arms and said, “Don’t worry, my love! We shall find a way to end it all!”
